Posted October 01, 2018 08:07:10 People of all ages and backgrounds are dressing for the weather, with many taking to social media to express their preference for the attire.
CBC News is sharing photos of some of the most popular dresses that have been spotted on social media.
Some people are even wearing dresses for the winter months.
Many of the dresses seen in the photos are for women who want to keep their style to a minimum and don’t want to look too revealing.
“It’s a little bit of a trend, because you don’t really want to show too much, especially for the summer months,” said Lisa Lauterbach, a dress designer in Hamilton.
“You want to stay casual, so you don.t want to wear a dress for a party, or something like that.
You don’t need to make a big deal about it.”
The dress styles often involve some kind of floral, lace or lace-up design.
A few dresses have been inspired by popular music such as Beyonce’s Lemonade or Rihanna’s Rebel Heart.
“If you’re going to do that, I think that it would be really fun to do something like this, I just don’t think that’s the style I’m into at the moment,” said Sarah-Ann O’Hara, a fashion designer in Winnipeg.
“But I think if it does come around, I would love to be able to wear it.
I think it’s just really fun, I really enjoy wearing a dress.”
For many, wearing a suit and tie can be seen as a statement.
“When I’m dressed up in a suit, I want to be the person that I am in a way, but I also want to put myself in a good light, and I feel like I should be able wear that suit and not have a huge personality,” said Lautterbach.
The dress trend is becoming more popular as winter begins to come to an end.
“I don’t know that we can say, well, you know, we just really have a lot more weather out there than we used to,” said O’Lara.
“We have the coldest weather in the last 40 years and then we have the warmest weather that we’ve had in the past.”
